HALLOWEEN

Once again we celebrate Halloween at IES Las Banderas. When you come into our hall you will see .......... a spooky hall full of ghosts, witches, vampires, zombies, and of course the pumpkins made by our students to participate in our 5th pumpkin competition. Everything is ready to live our own Halloween. We also have the "helpful Halloween": you can bring some food to help people and we will give you in return sweets, candies and bookmarks.
The students of 1ºESO have made halloween garlands to decorate the hall and the students of 2º ESO have drawn terrific pictures of monsters.
In 3º ESO, they have written scary stories and in 4º ESO students have made presentations of frightening characters such as Dracula.

In Spanish language, students have looked for typical spanish recipes eaten at this date (Tosantos).

.... And to finish we have our Poem Corner where you can read some poems about Autumn.

European Day of Languages

Last 26th October we celebrated at our school the European Day of Languages. It was an opportunity to show the students the importance of plurilinguism nowadays.

Students of every level made different  projects about it. The students of 1º ESO looked for similar words between Spanish and English  to understand the similarity between both languages.
In 2º ESO students drew flags of all the english-speaking countries and in 3º ESO wrote messages in postcards of those countries as if they were visiting them and so they studied some of the most known buildings and places of countries such as England, India, New Zealand.....

Finally the students of 4º ESO worked on a text about the importance of languages in our society. They read the text in Spanish, English and French.
